Koyotes Enter a New Era at Crown City Arena By Destiny St. Claire — SIBA KC Columnist
Kansas City, prepare to make some noise.
For nearly seven decades, the heart of Koyotes basketball has been housed within the hallowed walls of Sprint Arena. Home to countless basketball battles, victories, defeats, growing stars, and championship aspirations - as well as nights where Kansas City has left the building lit up.
But as all things must come to an end, so must eras.
And so begins a new chapter in Koyotes history.
In 2034, the Kansas City Koyotes will call a new home their own: the magnificent Crown City Arena.
This new building is the city's commitment to the Koyotes staying right here in Kansas City. In the era of expanding franchises, Kansas City chose quality over quantity, showing its devotion to the team and its fans.
The city built a new arena in order to preserve the legacy of the Koyotes and provide a fitting atmosphere for Kansas City's growing appetite for basketball.
Just imagine walking into this new building on the night of the opener - the lights are brighter, the concourses are busier, the crowd is louder, the court shines with a dazzling light of all the Koyotes colors, and the view from every seat is a sight to behold.
This building is a place for you to come, support your team (the Kansas City Koyotes), and be entertained by one of the most passionate franchises in the league.
The old Sprint Arena will always live on in the hearts of Koyotes fans, but we know that new beginnings often spark the best memories.
Sprint Arena was built in 1966 and quickly became a staple of the Koyotes' story, growing old with countless fans who wandered its halls as kids and returned as adults with children of their own.
As we say goodbye to one era and hello to a new era, we look forward to the memories this new building will create.
For the Koyotes organization, this could not come at a better time. Kansas City is entering the league as one of the top basketball markets, and this stadium is the perfect fit for a franchise with big goals for the future.
And as for the fans?
Well, they're in for a treat.
Nothing compares to the excitement of a brand new arena, but the best part is the atmosphere with the lights are dimmed and the game has started.
As the introductions begin and the music swells, fans pack the building and erupt into a frenzy.
"LET'S GO, KOYOTES!"
Crown City Arena won't simply replace the memories of Sprint Arena.
It will create new memories for a long time to come.
So cheers to 1966 and everything Sprint Arena meant to the city of Kansas City - and cheers to 2034 and the new beginning for the Kansas City Koyotes!
Welcome to the new era of Koyotes basketball, folks - because I can promise you this: it is going to be LOUD.
**HOWL ON KOYOTES!!! **
